G.Gano kicks 65 yards from WAS 30 to HST 5. S.Slaton to HST 12 for 7 yards (C.Horton; R.Williams).

1-10-HST 12 (14:56) M.Schaub pass short middle to K.Walter to HST 28 for 16 yards (C.Rogers; L.Landry).


1-10-HST 28 (14:23) M.Schaub pass short right to K.Walter pushed ob at HST 35 for 7 yards (D.Hall).

Blanket coverage by Doughty on the crossing route at the first down marker forces Schaub to throw short to Walter.

2-3-HST 35 (13:54) A.Foster left tackle to HST 45 for 10 yards (L.Fletcher; R.McIntosh).

Golston is driven off the line by a double team, and the C easily gets out to Fletcher to create a big cutback lane.

1-10-HST 45 (13:19) A.Foster right guard to WAS 49 for 6 yards (B.Orakpo, K.Golston).

The defense plays this well – Carricker and Carter cave in the corner, forcing Foster to cut inside. But Golston is being controlled on the line to give him a lane, and Foster has enough speed and power to escape Orakpo’s backside pursuit.

Holliday, at RDE, fight through a double team to stuff the play.

Carter beats the FB – throws him to the ground, in fact, and has Schaub dead to rights. But Schaub makes a very nice escape and stays up long enough for the (now forgotten) FB to get to his feet and take the dumpoff.

3-4-WAS 34 (10:42) M.Schaub pass incomplete short right to A.Johnson [L.Landry].

Landry reads the bootleg and is coming free right into Schaub’s face, forcing the short throw.

Hmmm… Fred Davis 1 on 1 on Mario Williams. He is beat around the edge, as is Heyer on the opposite side, but McNabb has time to step up he just can’t find anyone downfield before the defenders catch up to him.

1-10-WAS 33 (9:59) D.McNabb pass short right to S.Moss to WAS 45 for 12 yards (G.Quin).

Heyer completely fails at cutting the RDE, but fortunately Portis is there to slow him down and McNabb is on a 3 step drop for the slant to Moss.

1-10-WAS 45 (9:59) D.McNabb pass short middle to C.Cooley to HST 48 for 7 yards (Z.Diles).


2-3-HST 48 (8:49) D.McNabb pass short right to S.Moss to HST 37 for 11 yards (D.Ryans).

McNabb throws high and behind Moss, who makes a great play not only to catch it but to come down on his feet.

1-10-HST 37 (8:08) D.McNabb pass incomplete short right to J.Galloway (M.Williams).

The line slants to the left and Mario Williams is somehow left unaccounted for, the he bats down the quick slant to Galloway.

2-10-HST 37 (8:04) (Shotgun) D.McNabb pass short right to K.Williams to HST 34 for 3 yards (Z.Diles).


3-7-HST 34 (7:23) D.McNabb pass incomplete deep left to S.Moss.

Keiland Williams has a pretty good blitz pickup to buy enough time for McNabb to try the deep ball, but Moss is will covered.

Timeout #1 by HST at 07:18.


4-7-HST 34 (7:18) G.Gano 52 yard field goal is No Good, Wide Right, Center-N.Sundberg, Holder-J.Bidwell.

Brian Burke says Win Probability says the field goal was the right call here, but despite my faith in Gano’s leg I would have punted to avoid the risk of giving Houston the field position.

The line completely loses Landry who lines up outside the offensive right side of the formation but slips behind the LOS to come through the left side A gap and drill Schaub in the back as he tries to throw.

2-10-HST 42 (7:08) M.Schaub pass short left to J.Jones pushed ob at HST 43 for 1 yard (R.McIntosh). WAS-L.Landry was injured during the play.

Holliday and Lorenzo Alexander attack the line, then the second wave is constituted by Orakpo, Carter, and Landry all driving up the middle. The pressure drives Schaub back and he is forced to throw to the shallow cross for no significant gain.

3-9-HST 43 (6:43) (Shotgun) M.Schaub pass short left to A.Foster to WAS 49 for 8 yards (R.Doughty; L.Alexander). PENALTY on WAS-C.Horton, Defensive Offside, 5 yards, enforced at HST 43 - No Play.


3-4-HST 48 (6:12) (Shotgun) M.Schaub pass short left to J.Jones to WAS 46 for 6 yards (R.Doughty). The Replay Assistant challenged the pass completion ruling, and the play was Upheld.

Buchanon seems to lose track of the WR and let him get open at the sideline.

1-10-WAS 46 (5:39) M.Schaub pass deep middle to J.Dreessen to WAS 18 for 28 yards (C.Horton, R.Doughty). The Replay Assistant challenged the pass completion ruling, and the play was Upheld.

Chris Horton is momentarily frozen by the play action bootleg, and it is enough for the TE to beat him. That’s basically the ballgame as they are now in easy field goal range.
